7 Days of the Plan!

So I started this plan 7 days ago to write 250 words a day. This is in an effort to have a first draft done by October. I started this challenge with 15,159 words already in.
As of today, I have 6,136. That’s 6,136 in 7 days. If it wasn’t for a day job, that might be higher.
What’s more exciting is that I am over 20K words in total. (21,295 to be exact.) That is literally half of a novel!
So I’m excited…
At this pace, the first draft could be in editing mode by mid-July.

The Plan - Day 6

So I am focusing on the first story.  Using my plan to write 250 words a day, I have added over 2,800 words since the 21st.  Not bad.

The first story is now close to 18,000 words. That is approximately halfway to an actual novel.

I may actually be 30-40 days ahead of schedule!

Short update...

A plan!

So, I have a plan.

Ray Bradbury once said that he wrote a minimum of 1,000 words a day.  I thought about trying this.  Actually did try it once.  It's harder than it sounds.

Plus, I work 5-6 days a week.

So, instead, I am setting a target goal of 250 a day.  250 a day means that it would take 120 days or 4 months to finish the first book.  That would be 30,000 words added to the 11,000 I already have.  So, in other words a full novel.

Let's see how long this goes on...

Maybe stuff will happen there.  Maybe....

Father's Day and Thrifting Books

So since it's Father's Day, I have to say Happy Father's Day to my father, published horror author, Joseph Inzirillo.

(You can find his books here...  https://www.amazon.com/Joseph-Inzirillo/e/B018EK5LJW/ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_2?qid=1497852172&sr=8-2)

You can also find him at http://www.talesofoccult.com/bio.htm

He's a great guy and he's a great writer, so even though I'm biased because he's my father, you should still check his works out!

The Meeting is my favorite.

I haven't really been writing...  I have been reading.  I've also been putting together my writing workspace.  So there's that.

Oh yeah, I'm also an addict to thrift stores, Goodwill, Value Village and Used Bookstores.

Today, I scored 4 Discworld books I didn't have as well a Christopher Moore.

So that's that.

E3, John Scalzi and The enormity of a Universe

So, E3...  Bethesda...  What I got? TES: Legends is coming to my phone with some Skyrim.  Fallout 4 VR, which I am on the fence about and Wolfenstein...  I think I want the new Wolfenstein.

This partially means more distractions when I should be writing...

What I didn't get?  Starfield.  Fallout 5.  TES: VI.

On other subjects:

I skipped over every other book I'm reading to read John Scazli's Lock In.  Let's say that I am a huge fan of Scalzi.

And finally...

Building a Universe is painful.  It's almost overwhelming.  Trying to keep details straight is proving to be complicated.  I think I need a bulletin board.

So that's where I'm at.

RIP Adam West

Woke up this morning to hear that we lost Adam West.  No matter who your favorite Batman is or what you think of Family Guy, Adam West will always be one of the most iconic superheroes to exist.

Even with the cheesy 70's effects, I still think of West when I think of Batman and I always think of West when I hear the name Paul.  (Paul? Paul? That's not a name for a cat!)

You will be missed Mayor West.

So where are we writing wise?

Greetings travelers,

I was thinking about getting a grand view of the sporadic writings to see how much I have actually done.  I separated them into mock "titles".  By word count:

Prelude: 1,272
Bob: 1,605
Fox: 290
GW: 908
Main I: 14,707
Main II: 8,950
Main III: 1,113
Shorts: 4,943
SCG: 19
LG: 1,009

Total amongst all stories and short stories:  34,816

That's not a bad amount of writing.  Now to sorting through this mess to make it all make sense.

Yay! Organizing!

Joe

And it begins again...

So this year has been interesting...

So far, I have...

Moved.
Turned 40.
Lost my mother.
Visited Florida to see my Dad and my Sister.
Stopped writing.
Started writing.
Read a lot.
Finally resolved to get writing again.

Things have been chaotic.

So now, since I am in a better place overall, I am determined to get the first draft of one of my many writing projects out there to the big publishing world.  I do this for me.  I do this to honor my mom.  I do this because it's about damn time.

This weekend I am embarking on an organizing of my notes so that I can keep everything straight when I'm writing, which I have actually been doing for the last three nights.  I have many notes as one would expect, since I am creating a universe.

We shall see what happens next.

If all goes well, I plan to start using this blog for my random ramblings.

Also...  Thank you Stef for being my support! <3

New Desk, New Twists and the Story...

So, I've been missing from here.  Well, things have changed some now and it's time to get back to writing.

To promote the writing bug in myself, I got a new desk.  It was kind of a requirement.

Other than that, I have been reading a lot.  Like 91 books this year.  Granted there are quite a few Graphic Novels in that list, but some of them are quite long and just as wordy as most novels.

With novels in mind, read Stephen King's Dark Tower. (I read all 7 this year...) It will make you rethink everything about your own writing.

Time to re-imagine my universe and actually get to work writing.
